With all the concern circulating major European and Asian companies about the presence of horse meat in other products, there’s understandably a lot of concerns about the possibility that this could happen in America. So it shouldn’t be a big surprise that Congress is attempting to block this kind of occurrence through regulation. And you can ensure that your company starts making labels with this in mind.
According to the Wall Street Journal, horse meat production has existed in this country for years, but the government is pushing to prevent any massive developments in this area for a variety of reasons.
The Senate is using financial measures to prevent operations in this area, and the hope appears to be that this will be enough to quash this kind of activity within the United States. To be fair, this isn’t for the distribution of this meat in the country so much as creating it for other markets.
As NPR writes, there’s more than one company looking to get on this bandwagon, but they are meeting opposition from both interest groups and politicians within the Senate. That source received an email from U.S. Representative Jim Moran of West Virginia, who was one of the voices opposing horse slaughter for food.
“We fought hard for the past three years to reinstate this ban to prevent slaughter facilities from reopening on American soil,” his office said.
It’s not only important to have equipment that can get the printing done, but to put a label applicator or other appropriate extensions into use as well to make sure that new designs are used effectively.
