As your company expands and develops, you might require different color label printers to match your evolving needs. But some printers, like the Afinia L801 Memjet Label Printer. and the Primera LX900, might have similar ranges while still being better suited to specific tasks.
Recently, Optimedia Labs' Jim Brown wrote to Blue Mountain Organics Distribution, outlining some of the important distinctions between these printers.
- Printing Speeds. While the Primera LX900 can only print a few labels per minute, the Afinia L801 can handle more than 60 labels per minute. This means the L801 could be better suited to heavy loads of printing. This might be appealing to a company like Blue Mountain that has many different food products to sell, as well as a logo and brand identity it wants to keep standard across all of these different items.
- Inks and Label Sizes. The L801 has larger ink tanks than the LX900. It can also accommodate 2600 rolls, more than three times the capacity of the LX900 when it comes to 4" x 3" product labels. The size of the L801 ink tanks can also allow you to save money on ink by conserving your cartridges.
- Overall savings. As a result of these differences, the L801 can save you around $500 for the production of 5,000 labels. Extrapolate that the breadth of your whole production and the savings could quickly add up.
This is not to say that the Primera LX900 is a bad printer, necessarily: it simply might not be right for the kind of work your company may intend to use it for. But the Afinia can boast many advantages in terms of scope, and these should be acknowledged so that your business can achieve the most value overall.
