When it comes to presenting your food or beverage brand, the products’ labels act as the final point of contact between you and the customer, right before that individual makes a purchase decision. No matter how good a job you’ve done advertising your offerings on everything from billboards to banner ads, a weak showing on the packages could cause problems in store aisles. This is why it’s important to track current design trends and deliver food and beverage labels that will make shoppers say “wow.”
Creating a premium look
What defines a premium brand? Do your products meet this standard? Perhaps they could, given the right labeling. WhatTheyThink recently reported from the Flexible Packaging & Label Manufacturers Association conference, where speakers addressed the state of product packaging and labeling. Premium presentation was one of the major topics breached, as brands are interested in creating a classy, upscale look for their food and beverage products, even if they haven’t been considered high-end in the past.
Package designer Amber Bonney stated at the conference that brand owners today are interested in delivering a premium experience. This is a relatively recent development in visual tastes, and it may connect to Bonney’s suggested way of seeing packaging. She stated that brand owners should look at their items through the eyes of a consumer, considering that packaging will be the one element of a marketing campaign that every single buyer interacts with at one point or another.
Study the market
Packaging Digest explained that when brands previously pitched as “mainstream” concerns attempt to elevate their look, they can struggle to make the shift. The source noted it’s wise to study imagery that’s already popular and prominent in the field, even if it’s not directly related.
Packaging Digest gave the example of Cadbury chocolate attempting to become a gift item in the Asian market. The company studied the appearances of items that are already given as gifts, such as perfume or liquor. When it comes to designing a premium label for your food or beverage offerings, it may be wise for your products to “dress for the job they want,” so to speak.
The right printer for the job
Efforts to improve the perception of your brand may fall short if the quality of your labels is not up to scratch. This problem has a simple solution: With labels created on the Primera LX900, your products will look great, with bold colors that never bleed or run. No matter how much detail work you put into your logo, this printer can reproduce it. Find out more in our U.S. store by clicking here, or click here for our Canadian store.
