Whether you’re printing hot sauce and barbecue sauce labels or some other prepared food packaging, you may need special indicators if you’re trying to show off a new “elite” product line. One case in point could be a new brand of pasta sauces from Bertolli. Unlike the brand’s other offerings, the Riserva label is meant to highlight excellence and simplicity.
Whereas some of the other Bertolli’s products utilize bold colors, including red and green, the Riserva label utilizes a very visible black background instead, which contrasts with the gold bands around the edges.
That’s not to say there are no other colors to be seen: There are also images of vegetables and a colored font, both of which differ depending on the flavor. However, the black field takes up most of the front of the label, and contrasts specifically with the white oval logo in the center.
Rebecca Smith, Senior Marketing Manager of the company that produces the Bertolli’s brand, said that this new style matches current greater trends within the sauce industry.
“With the growth in the super-premium sauce category, Bertolli had the unique opportunity to leverage its equity to build a new sub-brand in this growing space,” she said in an article for Packaging World.
Bongiovi Brand pasta sauces, a local brand in New Jersey, utilizes a similar design for its own super premium sauces, also with the black and gold contrast and colorful images of vegetables in the center. A chief difference is the amount of red used in both the logo and the illustration.
For access to a full range of labelmaking options, companies should find a color label printer capable of filling their production order successfully.
