As one of the major brands of color label printers on the market, Epson already maintains a list of printers that companies can turn to for high-quality labels, like the Epson ColorWorks C3500 Inkjet Label Printer. Now the manufacturer has announced a new technology designed to make printing color more efficient, cost-effective and environmentally-friendly.
In a press release announcing its EcoTank Supertank printers, Epson emphasizes the ink-saving capabilities of this new brand, which allows users to print for two years with the same cartridge. Along with keeping costs low, Epson also wants to reduce the overall cost of ink and make it easier to print pages in color. The “Supertank” distinction is a new one created for this line of printers.
The statement lists five new EcoTank models promoted as part of this effort. Three of these are of the Workforce All-In-One brand (the Pro WF-R4640, ET-4550, and ET-4500), made for home offices and small businesses.
Some of the most impressive features belong to the Pro WF-R464, including a 580-sheet capacity, 4.3″ color LCD and 20 ISO ppm printing speed for both black and color pages. Prices for the units range from $379 to $479 MSRP.
Writing for PSFK, Jason Brick discussed the cost savings associated with the new ink strategy, comparing it to previous models that customers may be familiar with.
“These aren’t ‘Super Big Gulp’ sized ink reservoirs,” Brick writes. “Even if the size wouldn’t be unwieldy, ink goes bad in less than two years. Instead, the printers ship with refillable reservoirs for each color. This reduces the cost of ink from $70 to $100 per year per color to $12.99 for a two-year bottle.”
Epson label printers are useful for multiple types of stock, including GHS Drum Labels. Contact OptiMedia Labs for more information about the latest available printing systems and how they can work for your needs.
