When making hot sauce and barbecue sauce labels, businesses can choose images that reference the name of the company and specific themes that they want to highlight. Since this will be specific to the manufacturer and brand, a color label printer is a strong choice for seamless production: it allows companies to make the labels they want.
Packaging Digest recently profiled the company Two Soldiers and a Marine LLC, which produced special themed bottles of sauce in advance of the Fourth of July earlier this year. Since the company is owned by veterans, it has a distinct tie to the military and the owners wanted to highlight this with patriotic imagery that was reflected in the shape of the packaging itself.
The bottles were shaped to resemble military flasks and canteens, based on a slightly altered version of real canteen specifications. The labels on the bottles were also sized to fit the space perfectly, with a square one on the “flask” container and a wraparound one on the canteen. In addition to the company logo, the label contains images of the American flag and a description of the product size and weight.
Perry Mandera, one of the co-founders of the company, told the source about the importance of finding the right label design for this product.
“We wanted the packaging to be eye-appealing on the shelf,” he said. “We spent more for labeling and packaging because we wanted that different look. When you’re the new kid on the block, you need something people can remember you by—not only just by taste but by the look.”
Prepared food labels show consumers that thought has gone into the product design, and that the company takes the operation seriously.
