This year’s Bakery Showcase in Toronto has been another chance for those in the industry to learn about how to create cost-effective and useful bakery labels for their businesses. Afinia was one of the printing brands that appeared there, and as Jim Brown writes in his Color Product Labels Blog, the team from Optimedia made an appearance at their booth supporting the printers it had to offer.
The Afinia L801 Color Label Printer was on hand to show attendees what it has to offer bakeries, as well as any manufacturer who needs high-quality color labels for their product line. Here are some of the important things to consider if your company is looking for solid industry examples of which printer to turn to.
Varied Labels for the Same Brand Name
To start, businesses might have large orders to fill for several different kinds of products that they carry. In his blog post, Brown writes about the case of one that uses matte paper-based labels and has several different kinds of products it needs properly labeled.
In this example, the company ended up overspending on labels because it was trying to get all of its different products covered at once, many of which need to have specific changes made to them. Brown describes how demonstrating the use of the Afinia showed a possible way out of this situation by giving companies more freedom to alter their labels and print as they see fit.
“We were pleased to offer a real solution: The Afinia L801 digital color label printer featuring Memjet technology,” he said. “We were able to show attendees how they could print their own product labels on demand at a very low cost and in the exact quantity they needed through digital label printing.”
Solid Performance Against Competing Printers
Brown’s post also looks at the way the Afinia L801 measures up against the competition, specifically the Primera LX900 and Epson TM-C3500 color label printers. One thing immediately noticeable in this comparison is that the Afinia is more expensive than both of these models combined: however, the amount of ink per label that it costs to print with the Afinia model is .005 cents, far lower than the rate for the Primera (.10 cents per label) and Epson (.02 cents per label) printers.
Furthermore, the speed at which the Afinia can print labels greatly surpasses these two other printers. The Primera LX900 has a rate of around ten labels per minute, and the Epson TM-C3500 can do around 20. In contrast, the Afinia L801 can print more than 100 labels per minute.
Use of Wasatch SoftRIP Color Software
The L801 has the added advantage of being able to use Wasatch SoftRIP Color Software, which can allow those making labels more of a chance to tailor their designs to their preferences. Using this software, those in charge of printing this packaging can make better use of ink. It can also broaden the field in terms of who can use these printers, because they are easy to manipulate and come with an interface that promotes interactivity with other systems.
Within this software is a myriad of different tools and features that might help make the images on your labels more vivid and memorable.
Making the Right Choice
By no means is the Afinia L801 the only choice for bakery companies who need to create labels and stickers for all sides of their merchandise. Both the Epson and Primera models previously mentioned have positive qualities that could be useful depending on your rate of output and the amount and style of color that you plan to use in your labels.
