Winemaker introduces label with an optical illusion

Scott Harvey Wines took two things often associated with Valentine’s Day – wine and kissing – and combined them into a unique label that is likely to keep consumers talking about their wine labels. According to a company press release, Primero Beso and Ultimo Beso are white and red blends, respectively, that are designed for the love holiday.

Originally, winery owner Scott Harvey, said that he wanted to title the drinks, “The Kiss,” but the famous rock and roll band called Kiss already had their own self-titled line. However, with Spanish being a widely spoken language, Harvey explained that naming the blends “First Kiss” and “Last Kiss” in the romance language seemed to work just as well.

Harvey describes the new wines as being similar to his original Ménage à Trois creation, which was first introduced to the market in 1996. The Napa Valley-based winery is also influenced by Harvey’s training on the Alsatian border of France and Germany.

However, the wine label that was chosen for the new blends are bound to stand out from previous designs.

“The intriguing label offers an optical illusion, representing a kiss. Yet, not everyone sees The Kiss,” according to the press release. “Some see a corkscrew, others, a river of wine. Scott likes that wine drinkers can bring their imagination to the wine from love at first sight, to a lingering touch from the flavors of his blends.”

Companies that want to design custom labels for their products would be well-advised to invest in a Primera LX900 color label printer. This can help ensure that any wine or food labels can stand apart from other items.

For organizations that already have well-established product lines, color printers that allow for unique designs can be especially handy. That way, new items can have one-of-a-kind labels that will garner customers’ attentions.
