Spanish company shows parts of animal on meat labels

How many of your customers really know the meaning of different terms for meat cuts? There are so many different and conflicting names that this can be a daunting task, especially if you market your products in areas with a highly bilingual population.

Gizmodo has reported on the efforts of a Spanish meat company called Fauna to make the process of buying sections of meat simpler for those who don’t know all that much about butchering. The labels that the company produces plainly show the image of whatever animal the meat came from and use graphics to indicate which section is being used.

This applies to various kinds of animals, from beef to chicken. Although, as Gizmodo points out, the main effect of the labels is aesthetic, it could be an effective method for cutting through the ambiguities of less transparent meat packaging by giving consumers a very clear idea of what to expect.

This approach might not lead consumers to memorize the different names of the parts of the creatures involved, but at the very least it does represent a novel approach to the problem of labeling meat. As this blog has reported many times, the debate over using “Country of Origin” labels that inform the purchaser exactly where their meat came from has been a contentious subject, with opponents saying that the economic consequences will cost millions, as Bloomberg reports.

You can use the highly capable color label printer options available out there to recreate the designs that work for you, or use these printers and the software they require to find out how to make a label that will be memorable and innovative.
