Carton labels make egg information easier to read

Color carton labels could make eggs easier to classify and sell.

Certain terms in the egg industry that often appear on carton labels may confuse customers unfamiliar with their meanings. The manufacturer  can make things a little easier for the customer by including enough information in easy-to-read graphics. Given the unusual shape of egg cartons, doing so could be somewhat challenging compared to other standard container labels and require an adjustable approach.

In a recent piece for the Huffington Post, Sheela Prakash of Epicurious listed many of the most common identifiers found on egg labels. Some, like the colors used to describe egg shells, are fairly obvious, but not every shopper will know that the smallest available egg size is technically “Peewee,” a rare category about the size of a quail egg, as the source describes.

Other important common descriptors include the Omega-3 label, which means the hen was fed special dietary supplements, and the official USDA Certified Organic label. The USDA egg grades, from A to AA to B, denote different audiences and purposes. What’s important is that labels on these items use colors and imagery that make the true meaning clear, and also conform with industry expectations and standards.

How do you print labels that fit to a carton specifically? Optimedia Labs features multiple printers that are designed for color carton labels that feature graphics and integrated barcodes for easy scanning. These apply to all sorts of products and can be both functional and attractive, both valuable qualities for consumer goods that need to be stored and transported in mass quantities.

As our page describes, some of the printers suited for carton labels include the Epson ColorWorks C831 and C3400 printers. For more information, you can read their separate pages and decide which color label printer option is better for the number of labels you need.
