Printing QR codes for promotional coupons

Even though the familiar square QR codes companies use to promote themselves are in black and white, a printer with a full range of colors might be needed to help make these patterns visible and able to be scanned by consumers.

A recent article in Search Engine Journal examined some of the most important things to keep in mind when creating and using these codes for marketing. One of the most popular ways to deploy these codes, it turns out, is via display coupons. Not only can they direct customers to websites and social media materials with one easy photo, they can also be printed alongside other information as a link between the physical and the digital.

The article suggests that in addition to coupons, QR codes might be right at home on other physical surfaces, like packaging and even receipts. Businesses that already have the printers ready that can make these materials also have the chance to supplement their product and get people interested.

This can also be a means of accomplishing important customer service tasks through marketing. Essential Retail recently reported on the way pizza chain Papa John’s has printed QR codes on their boxes, directing customers of its nearly 250 locations in the UK to use these codes as a means of providing feedback. The codes are printed directly on the top of the boxes prominent enough for consumers to identify.

A coupon printer might not be the only device that you use to present these codes to the public, but it can be invaluable when a campaign like this presents itself. It’s important for QR codes because these images need to be rendered correctly for capturing.
