Color choices can play a significant role in designing candy labels, especially given the notions that many consumers have about specific hues. For example, around Valentine’s Day, red and pink candies are extremely common and dominate the grocery aisles. There are, however, thousands of colors businesses can turn to when creating labels, and with a professional-grade color label printer, they have more and more colors to choose from.
Something candy companies need to be aware of is the way a consumer could expect a label to correspond with a flavor. While not every candy package will link color with taste, some buyers may see the package and assume that the product will be flavored a certain way. When there’s multiple images on the package to process, companies have to make sure one element doesn’t override the other.
For example, Chuao Chocolatiers has launched a line of candy called Lovely that uses pink stripes at each end of the package. Although the bars come in different flavors, the coloring suggests the “beauty-inspired” theme the company wants to promote with this line.
The packaging contains vivid images that represent the ingredients and flavors, including “raspberry rose,” “blueberry lavender” and “coconut hibiscus.” Still, since pink could be a flavor indicator for some shoppers, businesses have to make sure there isn’t a clear conflict at a glance.
Using a Primera LX900 color label printer will give companies more options for highlighting what makes their products special and what consumers can expect. This printer can produce labels that use photographic images as well as relevant graphics and fonts.
